Cider House Bed and Breakfast: Waynesboro, VA

Lodging for our ladies’ weekend was in Waynesboro, Virginia at Cider House Bed and Breakfast. This farmhouse built in the 1790s sits on 20 acres of land and produces organic hay, cider, meade, jams, and more.

Our room was spacious and comfy with period furniture and decorations. I particularly enjoyed the embroidery framed and hanging on the walls.

Our reading nook (as I used it) was as comfy as period furniture can be. I never turned on the TV, so I can only assume it works. Moving to the bathroom, it has all the modern comforts you can want; including a bar of Sicilian soap. Gotta say, it was a nice relaxing shower put to the hot temperature I enjoy (my husband would say I’m trying to burn my skin off).

Leading out a second door in our room was this very nice balcony. I believe it’s a shared balcony with another room, but we had it to ourselves and enjoyed the thunderstorm.

Also available on the farm are snacks to give the cows, alpacas, and donkeys. Ya’ll. Go visit the donkeys! They are the sweetest animals and they loved our attention. We video called our kids so they could also enjoy the donkeys. It broke my heart to leave them while they were calling after us. Hopefully more people visit so they can get more pets.

The only complaint I had was how easily you could hear people walk down the hallway, but what do you expect from an old farmhouse with wooden floors?

The next morning we went down to breakfast and shared our meal with a couple from the Netherlands. Normally, we are uncomfortable sharing our table and being forced into small talk. Not this time! We spent 1.5 hours telling them about America and they, in turn, told us about the southern area of the Netherlands. The food was amazing, freshly made, and was accompanied by jam and syrup made on the farm.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Cider House Bed and Breakfast. The host was lovely, the breakfast was delicious, and our room was clean, large, and comfortable.
