Not all desserts are created equal! For our honeymoon in 2015, we did a cruise around Italy, and my husband was determined to find some granita. We managed to find it at our southern most Italy stop. It was good but it was more like Italian ice, since it was not accompanied by bread. Which was when we realized granita is a Sicilian desert.

In Sicily, tradition suggests you dip your bread in the granita. For me, either the bread wasn’t that great, so I didn’t eat it in hopes I could fit more delicious food in my belly. Or, the brioche was so amazingly good that I didn’t want the granita to ruin it. Either way, ordering a granita is a true Sicilian experience. The lemons in Sicilia far exceed the flavor of the lemons I’m used to eating.

Gelato can be found in Italy, but in Sicily the flavor is just as good. Whether we found Gelato in Taormina, Ali Terme, Fuimedinisi, or anywhere else in Sicily, our bambino ordered fragola (strawberry), and it was his main source of nutrition on this trip.

We were getting near the last day of our trip and had not found cannoli’s yet. A family member was determined to get us some, which I really appreciate!

It was delicious! Another Sicilian/ Italian dessert, which should be eaten while on vacation.

No matter the dessert, they were all lip licking good.

A Rose and Violet Flavour Infusion is the winner for number 13 in Fortnum and Mason’s advent tea calender. Coming out strong is hibiscus, rosehip, and rose petals. On the back end is lemon myrtle, beetroot, blue cornflower, and Violet flavoring. Best paired with a delicious box of chocolates (because how can you only eat one?)

Happy 12 days until Christmas! Have a lovely day.
