Santo Stefano was another highlight of my trip. I love handmade pottery and am drawn to shopping ceramics. As our aunt said, “You will not rush me in Santo Stefano.”

However, we did have a 3 year old with us who insisted on being in the stores with me. On occasion, Daddy could keep him outside. But the majority of the time I held my breath hoping he didn’t break anything. Somehow, no harm was done.

Walking through the stores, you could tell each artist has their own style, pattern, and colors they use.

Everything was beautiful, and it was hard to narrow down exactly which pieces to purchase.

But I found my favorite pottery in a studio with a mezzanine, which showed the artist’s work in progress.

I came out with two Christmas gifts; a butterfly and a cat. I loved the colors and designs and knew they were perfect for the recipients.

I had walked away with only the gifts, but after a few more stores, I went back to that one and bought myself a long plate. I do want to point out that only knowing English in Sicily does make communication difficult. In the end, we struck a deal, and now I happily display this plate in my China cabinet until it’s used.

My other takeaway was a planter that I am waiting to fall off my wall one day. But for now, it looks lovely beside the photos we took in Sicily.

18 days down and 7 to go! Today I enjoyed Fortnum and Mason’s Gunpowder green tea. It gets its name from the leaves being rolled up into what looks like gunpowder pellets. The flavor has a little bit of smokiness to it. If you don’t like that, a pinch of honey will dull it down. But it is very good as a stand-alone green tea.

Happy Monday and one week until Christmas!
