Hello everyone! August’s hike has been my favorite yet! Coming in at 3.4 miles round trip is the Fairy Pools hike in the Isle of Skye, Scotland!

From above, it doesn’t look too far away. The beginning of the hike is a steep decline, and you’re met with a small waterfall at the beginning.

Throughout the hike, there are beautiful small waterfalls that pool and continue down the river.

It was absolutely stunning to see these waterfalls directly beside the trails. There were even some people getting into the water. Our bus driver said the folklore is that the evil fairies like to take people away if they get into these pools, and I decided not to try it out.

To be honest, with the time limit the bus driver gave us, we didn’t have much time to do anything but continue on.

It became a rocky path, but I was determined to continue on. See the big reveal. Enjoy these beautiful fairy pools at its peak. Finally, after much more time then our bus driver said it would take, we made it…

… to the pile of rocks at the end? I got to thinking, “Are we on the right trail? We’re the fairies doing a prank? Did they move the pools?” Turns out the waterfalls with pools along the hike were actually the Fairy Pools. As my hiking buddy said, “Sometimes it’s the journey that you travel…”

After a brisk hike, with a final steep incline to the top, we made it to our pick-up spot with 2 minutes to spare before we boarded our bus.

This adventure was so much fun and worth it! We high fived each other after we succeeded and had so much fun! Our Scotland trip was fantastic, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it during this year’s Countdown to Christmas!
