21 Days until Christmas 2025: Waimea Beach & Salt Pond Beach, Kauai

Happy Thursday and December 4! For today’s adventure, we went to Waimea Beach Pier and Salt Pond Beach.

This beach was empty and considered to be a black sand beach. Though to me, it looked more brown.

We walked onto the pier, my son played in the sand, and that was that. According to the locals, you shouldn’t play in this water. It’s said this is the area boats dump their waste. Nearby, we walked to a few shops in Waimea.

Later in the day, we went to Salt Pond Beach.

We really enjoyed going here. The reef created a mostly enclosed area, so we didn’t worry about the ocean’s waves too much.

Our son enjoyed seeing the little fish swimming around, and then I spent an hour really looking at the reef. Boy, did that become fun for me!

Sea urchins, crabs, fish, and other creatures caught my attention, and I pointed out many of them to the kids.

… yeah. Kids. Haha, our son makes friends everywhere we go. It usually makes it more enjoyable for us all.

We really enjoyed Salt Pond Beach. It gave us an enjoyable and relaxing experience at the beginning of the trip.

Today’s Hawaiian Islands Tea Company’s tea is Pineapple Waikiki. This black tea has a great pineapple scent. Take care when steeping this tea because if you keep the tea in there too long, it will become bitter. When you steep it correctly, the pineapple flavor in the black tea is vibrant and refreshing.
