Yay! It’s Friday! And! I’m excited to tell you about our first family helicopter ride!
If you’ve ever seen the movie Jurassic Park, you’ll remember there is a helicopter scene at the beginning of the movie where the helicopter follows a mountainous canyon pass. Then, it lands on a helicopter pad by a waterfall. Well! Island Helicopters Kauai is the only company that lands at this same waterfall! We were so excited to listen to the Jurassic Park music while flying the same route and landing within walking distance of the waterfall!
The weather was beautiful. The scenery was gorgeous. The pilot changed the music throughout the flight to compliment the scenery. I’d have to say the Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings music was spot on.
We also experienced flying through low hanging clouds. It was very neat to go through, and then we were rewarded with the Napali Coast on the other side. Breathtaking.
We learned history on this flight while enjoying the scenery, too. Specifically, the Valley of the Kings, where the bones of past kings were taken for their final resting place.
Additionally, we went into the caldera of Kauai’s inactive volcano. There were many waterfalls viewable throughout the flight. I was also happy to see Hanalei Bay from the air since we didn’t have time to visit it on land this trip.
Our helicopter ride was an absolute success for the whole family. My son even asked the pilot if he would take a photo with us. I am so glad we went on this adventure!
I’m still trying out teas from the Hawaiian Islands Tea Company. Today’s organic green tea is mild and bittersweet. So i added Rare Hawaiian’s organic White Kiawe Honey. My family loves this unique floral sweet honey and it goes perfect with this green tea. So far, the only place I’ve found this honey is from a local shop in Hanapape.
