A very happy 9 days until Christmas!

I am excited to share our adventure in Scotland! My son and cousin’s family met up in Edinburgh. We spent two days exploring the city.

Jet lag did not keep us from doing the Auld Reekie underground vault tours, but it came with a cost. My 50-pound son asked to be picked up and fell asleep immediately. Somehow, I carried him for 1 hour and 20 minutes. It worked out because I think he may have been scared during the tour anyway.

After our night of rest, we visited the Edinburgh Castle. Traveling with kids, I mainly learned about cannons and the different views that can be seen from each one.

However, we did manage to enjoy Afternoon Tea at Edinburgh Castle. Each person received a 3 tier tray of their own food (scones, sandwiches, desserts) and a pot of tea. The adults also bought prosecco or gin. It was a delightful experience. I will say it’s best to reserve afternoon tea in advance. Any walk ups were turned away.

Walking down the Royal Mile was a lot of fun because the International Fringe Festival was happening. We were entertained the whole time we walked, which was great for the boys.

To end our adventures in Edinburgh, we explored Calton Hill and the nearby cemetery. As you can see in the photo above, the boys found another cannon! Huzzah! But Calton Hill was open and perfect for them to run around and get energy out. We also had a distant view of Holyrod Castle and another great view of Edinburgh. I loved Edinburgh and hope to go back some day.

To kick off my teas from Scotland, I’m excited to share my Portee Tea cup purchase! It’s hand-made ceramic with rustic colors and designs that bring me back to Scotland each time I drink from it. The Brodies breakfast tea and Scottish Shortbread are divine. The tea is a smooth black tea that serves a welcome wakeup. The Shortbread is buttery goodness, just a hair shy of addictive. The Shortbread is produced in Scotland and is a great example of delicious food you can get there.

Have a wonderful day!
