Happy Sunday! We are 4 days from Christmas! Let the festivities begin!

On our last day in Scotland, we found ourselves in Highland’s capital of Inverness. It was charming and lovely to walk around. This whole trip, time was our enemy because every place I’ve talked about, I wish we had more time to explore and enjoy.

I am happy to confirm that I have tried haggis and black pudding. Did I finish the haggis? No. Did I make it a fair way through the black pudding? Yes. Would I order them again? Ehhh….

Our longest stop of the day was to Culloden Battlefield. This held the final battle of the Jacobite Uprising in 1746. It also led to the end of many Scottish traditions and a forced shift in culture to adopt England’s rule and way of life.

I’ve mentioned my Harry Potter nerdiness, but I must confess I’m also a fan of the Outlander book series. We went to Clava Cairns, where I “low key” touched the stone that inspired Diana Gabaldon to write her books…and I am still in my correct time period, with my same husband…Joking aside, it was neat to see these stone circles where they acted as holding tombs for people who passed before they were cremated.

To my sons delight, we stopped at the Highland Folk Museum, where I would have liked to walk around and see one of the filming locations for the Outlander TV show. However, this was the only time we saw a playground during our trip, so I just let him play. I mean, it’s not often he gets to experience a metal spinning merry-go-round that flings ya off at lightning speed. That’s a blast to the 90’s past right there.

To finish off the trip, our bus driver surprised us with a stop where we fed Harry Coos! There were even babies! We loved it, but my son did mention their tongues were too slimy.

In the end, we both loved our trip to Scotland and want to go back with Daddy/ my husband someday.

In honor of Harry Coos and our last day in Scotland, I’m trying the last of my Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company’s flavors called Thistle Tea. This has Africa and Ceylon black tea with thistle blossom. It’s a wee bitter, earthy, and floral. It’s great with a splash of milk or on its own. Overall, I’ve learned that Scottish teas are bitter, earthy, and caffeinated. I dig it (but the hubby doesn’t).

Anyone ready for snow yet?!

Sláinte Scotland! I hope we meet again ❤️
