For My Family, I Will Fight

Okay ya’ll. Full disclosure before you start reading. I’m going to vent. This will be my first time being unprofessional (if you want to call my posts anywhere near professional).

Also, no photos until one at the end.

There have been some petty things happening in my life this year that I really hope don’t continue. After being hung up on today for nicely saying I’m going to let my 4 year old play in the snow in 31 degrees with no wind (perfect conditions really), I can hold it in no longer.

For my family, I will fight. I will fight for their happiness and for mine. I will fight for fun and exciting experiences. I will fight for a cheerful childhood. I will fight for what we need. And I will absolutely put my kid and husband first.

If my kid is invited to a birthday party in a public location and I’m invited to something else, I will graciously decline my invitation so my only child can play with kids his age.

If I think playing in the snow will be good for my kid because he hasn’t seen any since he was 2, we’re going to. I am sensible enough to know when he gets too cold outside and bring him in.

If I see my kid start to act a certain way and try to nip his temper in the bud because I know how bad he’s about to get, let me or my husband take care of it.

If we are past the contagious point of a sickness, please allow us to still come and play. I am extremely cautious of getting others sick, so I really try not to spread the germs.

Also, my top priority is to provide my family experiences for as long as I can get. My husband has a disorder that may or may not put him in a wheel chair before my son is out of high school. So we’re going to take those family vacations often. Make those memories. Explore new places together. Because this….

…is what I strive for.

Yas!!! Say it! I totally feel you on all of this and I am sorry that people have been negative towards you. You are absolutely right that our kids need more outside. And 30 is beautiful! We are down to single and negatives here and I can’t wait till it gets warmer so we can get outside without worrying about frostbite!
