Happy Saturday and less than 2 weeks until Christmas!

My last entry for New York City is about the Bronx Zoo. I talked about it as an urban hike in May. So I won’t talk about how the layout of the zoo could have a better foot path.

I will talk about the variety of animals that were there. There’s a reptile house with my sons new favorite of the kimono dragon. There was also a mouse house with more mice in one place than I hope never to see in my house. We passed a butterfly garden as well.

My son got up close and almost personal with a snake. We saw bears and monkeys, giraffes and ostriches…

Basically, it felt like we were watching The Lion King with hornbills, lions, and other animals that were living harmoniously in the circle of life.

Our favorite was seeing the snow leopard because they were active. Unfortunately, we did not make it down to the tram where we could ride while seeing more animals.

But! Our son did succeed in buying a new cheetah toy, which he named “Faster” (not Tufty or Spot. I’d even go for Spud. It’s named “Faster”). Overall, going to New York City was an enjoyable mixture of family, music, and adventure.

Thirty miles north of New York City is Blue Hill at Stone Barns. They are known for farm to table dining, but also have a market. Online, they sell jams, herbs, etc. To my delight, they also grow, dry, and sell an herbal tea with chamomile, lemon verbena, hibiscus flowers, linden, lemongrass, and stevia. I don’t have chamomile often, but this tastes fresh; mainly of chamomile and lemon.

We’d like to thank our family for our “High Adventure” and can’t wait to go back!
