#5 Be Spontaneous: 40 Before 40

Okay, when I set this 40 before 40 goal of being spontaneous I thought, “maybe someone will last minute invite me somewhere, go on a road trip, or perhaps get last minute reservations to afternoon tea.”

I did not anticipate on one rainy day our son tells us he wants to fully take care of his own pet, and wants a fish.

Let me lay out the scene for you: after purchasing all the baggage for said glow fish, we rush home since the store said they should only be in the bags for an hour; 30 minutes already being spent and 15 minutes should be for the fish to sit in their bag in the new water. We run all the tank supplies and fish to my 6 year olds room and slam the door because we have 4 cats.

This already seems like a brilliant idea.

So the door is constantly being slammed while running back and forth from the sink with room temperature water. Meanwhile the husband is yelling from the room “There’s no instructions in here! I don’t know how to put the filter together!” My son is yelling “Mommy the plants are coming up!” Husband again,  “I don’t know if it’s leaking or the kid is spilling water everywhere!”

The fish don’t know what in the world is going on and, really, the cats, dog and humans don’t either.

A couple hours later and the pink catfish named Musty (short for mustache) is happily jaunting about the bottom of the tank. Wish us luck on this new adventure. We all over the place.
