Fireflies and Looney Tunes

“Hey!  What’s Up Doc?”

I wanted to share another childhood memory before diving into different teas. This story, as you know, has to deal with Lipton black tea.  I already told you about how my Grandma makes it on the farm, but want to tell you about how my Grandma who lived about an hour away made it.  I never got to see her make it, but she would always have two old plastic juice or tea containers, with one full of sweet and one unsweetened Lipton tea.  At holiday’s, when all the family was there, we would grab our favorite glasses.  She had a variety of Looney Tunes glasses that looked similar to this:

Growing up I quickly learned that my Uncle had dibs on one and my Dad on another.  Once I learned that Daffy Duck and Sylvester were taken, I didn’t have any further cup choosing issues.

In the summer at Grandma’s house, after it got dark outside, my sisters and I would take a jar and catch fireflies.  Which to me, will always and forever be called “Lightening Bugs”.  The best spot to catch these lightening bugs was by the big pine tree we parked our car beside.  After an hour of fun and enjoyment of watching our glowing friends, we released them in a cloud of sparkling beauty.

I love looking back at these memories.  It makes me realize how much tea has always been a part of my life, and it is ever growing.

One last “plug” on how to get updates of my blog posts through email, if you are interested (because I am probably not always going to cross post them on Facebook). Go to my Rory, Tea & Me Home page.  At the bottom there is a way to “Follow” my blogs.  Just sign up there and it should alert you through e-mail when a new post comes up.  Thanks for joining me!

  1. I grew up calling them lightening bugs. I miss catching fireflies. Children find joy in all of the little things in life šŸ˜Š

    1. Each Summer (I think it’s around June) there’s thousands of lightening bugs that light the farm at night ā¤
