During or after college (I really can’t remember exactly when) I started going to our local tea restaurant called The Royal Tea Room. Unfortunately this tea room is no longer in business. Their menu had sandwich meals with names similar to Henry VIII Turkey sandwich and other wonderful royal English sandwich names. They also had the best croissants I’ve ever had in my life. Once I accidentally waited an hour to get a half dozen of these croissants fresh out of the oven. It was worth every minute of the wait. They also had a good variety of teas as well.
My husband apparently picked up on me liking to go to tea rooms because he almost proposed to me in Tea on the Tiber. Thankfully he did not because that tea room is closed indefinitely due to serious flooding (boooo to Mother Nature). It was a wonderful tea room with a beautiful set up. Their cheese, fruit and scone tray was so yummy I only remembered to take a photo after I ate the scones.

If you’re looking to enjoy a variety of teas in a pleasant atmosphere, I always suggest taking a friend or partner to a tea room. They have a charm you get from the experience that is different from buying tea at a coffee shop.
