First Pomegranate Tea Blend

I decided to blend my first tea tonight. I don’t have too many ingredients to work with yet, so I didn’t expect to create the best tea I’ve ever had on my first try (hopefully one day I will). I am testing out measurements and flavors completely on my own without doing any research, so there is some trial and error I’ve already gone through. I started off with 1 tablespoon of loose leaf green tea and then added 1/4 teaspoon of crushed mint that I had on my spice rack. First lesson….too much mint. Maybe a tad less then 1/4 would have done the trick. I added 1 teaspoon of pomegranate, which did absolutely nothing, so I added a second teaspoon.

The main difference I noticed is that the mint was not as strong anymore. I couldn’t quite taste the pomegranate I was expecting, but the tea did take on a more bitter flavor. Since I wasn’t crazy about the flavor, I decided to throw in 2 teaspoons of tart cherry juice I happened to have laying in the refrigerator.

I will say, the tea is perfectly tart now and I can taste the fruit. Is this a good blend? I’m not quite sure. I do know that it needs more work. I will have to figure out a way to get more flavor out of the pomegranate seeds, which may involve grinding. That’s for another night though! For now I am happy to sip on my new (slightly failed) concoction and bid you all a wonderful night.
