Well…I’ve had yet another baking fail, but I’m only going to half way blame myself this time. Preparing for my Countdown to Christmas “Desserts to go with tea”, I’ve looked at many online recipes and seen many errors.

Tip #1 Make sure you double check the information you share in your recipe. This is the main issue I’ve encountered. Wrong information can make or break the bake. Above is a rubbery second bake of a recipe that didn’t cook because the directions said bake at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Yeah it seemed weird to me. When it came out looking like when I put it in for the first bake, I realized it should be 350 degrees… We’re not reheating soup here people.

Tip #2 Write the ingredients properly. If you should be using almond flour, don’t just write “almonds”. Some people (like me) are allergic to ingredients and may leave items out like nuts instead of substituting them. In this case, missing 2 cups of flour is significant and something I would have replaced.

Tip #3 As seen in the circled red above, finish typing/writing all important information in your recipe. Period.
Tip #4 Well for the yellow above I guess since the world uses different measuring systems it’s up to the baker to correctly convert the measurements.
Bottom line, if you are sharing a recipe make sure everything is correct. The ingredients, the instructions, all of it.
Now let me “sign off” this blog and try to salvage my non-floured, very buttery Blackberry bakewell pudding. Or… Just throw it away. Hurumph.
I lol. JIM

Sounds like you might have gotten a European recipe. Aside from the poor ingredient direction, the 150 degrees got me once, too. Fix the ingredients and bake at 350 and I bet you get something you like.
