Today a coworker and I went to The Ploughcroft Tea Room in Lynchburg VA. It’s a cozy tea room about one street away from the water with a charming atmosphere.
We looked at the Afternoon Tea menu and decided to get the option of 2 scones with clotted cream and jam, and a pot of tea. The scones they had available were plain and strawberry, so we asked for one of each, but only got the plain scones. Not sure what happened there. Regardless, the scones were delicious. They were warm, fresh, and tasted like they just came out of the oven.
I was very disappointed in the tea selection. Our tea bag selection was 4 different types of caffeinated black tea, peppermint herbal tea, and peach apricot tea. I did enjoy my peppermint tea and my coworker liked her Darjeeling tea, but I wish there were more options in this “Tea” Room. We didn’t order anything else, but did see they had a variety of small sandwiches and sweet treats.
The last thing I want to mention is about getting our check. The waiter gave us this:

The Ploughcroft Tea Room did have a nice atmosphere and everything we ended up having did taste good, but I’m not sure I would go out of my way to come here again.
