Salam! Welcome to Wednesday, half way through the week, and 11 days until Christmas!

Today is a special “tea around the world” because we are focusing on Azerbaijan; where my sister met her husband!

Azerbaijan is located by the Caspian Sea and Caucasus Mountains near the boundry of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.

Its capital, Baku, is known for its medieval walled Inner City. Within the Inner City lies the Palace of the Shirvanshahs (a royal retreat dating to the 15th century) and the centuries-old stone Maiden Tower, which can be viewed easily in the city skyline.

But! More exciting for me! They produce tea! Azercay is a black tea from the tea gardens of Lenkoran and Astara region in Azerbaijan.

As said on the Azercay website, “The Classic “AZERÇAY Bergamot” is a mixture of quality black teas. Tea is specially flavoured with natural bergamot. Taste of this tea is soft, delicate, colour is bright red. The Classic “AZERÇAY Bergamot” is a gathering of a delicate flavour of bergamot with a magical aroma of black tea.”

Azerbaijani tea is usually served first when a host receives guests. Tea serving and drinking is an important component of Azerbaijani culture. One component I would not mind becoming a normal part of culture in America as well. Alqış!
